There is no darkness in LOVE. *You may think, if it feels good it can’t be that bad right? I answer… Really? Don’t be deceived my friend. If you sow deception and distortion in your heart you will reap more of the same to the point of addiction. Perverted views of love will never lead you to real Love. * You may wonder, how do I know if my view on love is right or wrong? How about we all screen our views of love against the true standard. ***Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. (1 Corinthians 13:4-7)*** Please guard your eyes, ears, and heart from books, films and all the extra waves of death this world has to offer. Don’t be a victim… just don’t go there, but if you are already struggling with what you saw, read, or heard don’t despair because there is hope. Yes, God is an expert when it comes to renewing our minds and hearts. Call on His name with a true heart and He will rescue you. Woohoo!!! I fought an egg and I won!

I Fought with an Egg this morning, but I Won!!!

You see, I cracked an egg on our griddle and that almost chicken thing had legs! It ran across the griddle faster than fast and out the drain hole before I blinked, but that almost chicken was no match for my spatula and me! I tried to catch it before it hit the counter and wow, that incredible edible egg was slick. It escaped, so I grabbed a spoon… and with spatula and a spoon in hand my hands danced like one of those Chinese steakhouse sushi grill masters chef people- It happened so fast!! It was a thing of beauty so sorry you all missed it. I was impressed with myself. And it gets better. The next thing I know that almost chicken was airborne so fast I didn’t even have time to say NO WALL ART PLEASE… Ooh lah lah people! It landed on the griddle. Nope, no art class today. In disbelief of what had just happened that egg turned white, but the end my dear fellow bloggers/facebookians friends was inevitable… I had to teach all future breakfast foods a lesson. You. Will. Be. Eat. En.
PS I didn’t break the yolk!!!!!!

After many years I get to return to the mission fields! I am so thrilled to answer my call. I’m getting ready for a mission trip to Palawan,The Philippines in the fall. I will tell you all about it and share the journey as I go. Associations… Just sayin’

Making associations is a powerful thing to do to help you remember something you do not want to forget. You take something you are very familiar with or do as a habit, and connect/associate it to a second thing to serve as a trigger to remember  the second one.

Did you know, your online device – pc – tablet – phone, is a great tool to help you remember things. It is better than sticky notes or even a string on your finger… just not the way you think. I am not making reference to a calendar or a to do list.

You see, you will use your online device many times in your day so why don’t you make it work for you in a new way?

How about you put a tennis shoe next to it to remind you to take a walk or exercise? How about the dog’s leash or food next to your online device to not forget to attend to you pet before you leave home. Why not your Bible on your pc keyboard to help you remember to read your Bible or a picture of your parents so you remember to call them.

It is a fact that at times, we spend a little too much online.  I encourage you to invest your time more wisely. Don’t let your online devices dictate how you spend your time.

I am not bashing being online, but sometimes we have more important things to do with our time. Sometimes we neglect things because our time slips away when we turn on our  online devices. Yes, we  have all been there. We have all experienced  that awkward moment where time stood still on our computer… or should I say when precious time slipped away from us.

Have you ever tried to justify yourself by saying, “I need to check my emails and messages…” ? Oh yes, I am sure it is true, but that should not take 4-5 hours of your day.

You know it is true.  Just sayin’

~>What will you put next to your device?

~>Give it a shot. you just might find it works out unless… you don’t act on the thing you wanted to remember.

~>Hey, it is worth a shot!

Proverbs 27:23-24 Pay careful attention to your flocks, and see to the welfare of your herd. Because riches do not last forever, nor does one dynasty retain power through all generations.

Tolerance is spelled T- R- A- P

tolerance trapTolerance blinds good judgment. If you tolerate things just a little at the beginning, you may find no need to tolerate anything later on because by then, you will most likely be ok with it.

How many things were a clear ->NO, a few years back for you, but now it is really not a big deal? Just like the “boiling frog syndrome” we may find ourselves boiled to death by tolerating, putting up with , or turning a blind eye to things we know are not pleasing to God.

When it comes to sin~ tolerance is a big trap because it numbs good judgment. It is the first step on a slippery slope that will take you head on to that which you are tolerating. You become it. You become what you behold.

How do we know if tolerance to sin has compromised our spiritual life?  There is only one way to know.  Present yourself before the Lord with a humble heart and ask Him to reveal to you through His Holy Spirit anything that you may need to address. If you pray in faith your eyes will be opened and you will know what adjustments to make, but if you are not open for correction or willing to change, you are taking God out of the equation. This never ends well.

If you truly repent and want to turn your ways in any area of your life that needs to change, God will show you the way and also help you. He does not desire that you be in bondage to sin, but that you would be free to enjoy the life He has made available for you.

The more of God’s light in your life, the easier it will be to spot anything that wants to corrupt God’s beautiful work in your life. The more light you have, the easier it will be for you to stop, resist, and walk away from the temptation of putting down your guard even just a little…

Don’t override warnings~ Don’t ignore these excuses or “billboards” that broadcast loud and clear that you are playing with sin. Phrases to watch out for…

*It is no big deal

*I am mature

*I am an adult

*I know the truth

*That doesn’t really pull on me

*Just one time

*That does not hurt me I am over it

*It was a problem in my past not now…

*Don’t want to be left out.

*Nobody knows

*God knows I’ll stop- I’m trying

*I can handle it.

*I’m in control and I can stop anytime I want to.

 Do not tolerate sin.

Do not set foot on the path of the wicked or walk in the way of evildoers. Avoid it, do not travel on it; turn from it and go on your way. Proverbs 4:14-15

The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day. But the way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know what makes them stumble. Proverbs 4:18-19

What are you Worth? $$$

Did you know that the worth of an object is determined by the price someone is willing to pay for it? The Greatest proof of your worth is the price God paid for you. God was not only willing to pay a price for you. He actually did! The price tag for your wholeness was the life of His son, Jesus.  That makes you very valuable! For God so… loved you.~ (John 3:16) He loved you  in such a way…  The giving of his Son shows how God loved YOU and me, not how much.

*Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. Proverbs 4:23*

Don’t believe in lies. You have worth and your worth does not depend on what others say, think or feel about you. It does not depend on how you feel about yourself either. See your worth though God’s eyes. You have no greater friend than Jesus. He knows what you are worth! ** Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. – John 15:12-13**

The price tag for your wholeness was the life of His son, Jesus. Jesus paid with His life for you and me.

Run Baby Run for your Chocolate! I Mean Life!!!

Run baby run for your chocolate!!!!

I mean life!

So… get some chocolate, snacks, candy or just pull out a chair to sit and dare to be awkward for a moment. Do the social thing in person. Interact with people. Telling stories you lived with the people you know is a great way to break the ice.  It does not take great planning or time. A few laughs here, and a few laughs there, and the next thing you know-> you have some new memories to share and to pick you up too. Yes, sweet memories and laughter are a great defense against the blues.

I am sure you have funny  stories from your past or your childhood. Stories you lived with your siblings, cousins and friends. Maybe you have children of your own now, and enough stories to write books too.

I have seen how my own children get lost in smiles when they hear stories of funny things they did, but wouldn’t know unless we tell them because they were just to young at the time to remember. They always enjoy hearing them again. It gives them a sense of belonging not just to our present, but our past, creating history and healthy expectations for our future. We belong to each other and that makes us feel safe.  The same can be said for all.

Stay connected with the people in your world and take time to talk, smile, laugh, cry and at times even be silent, but be there with them.  It is good for us all  not to forget that we are social beings, meaning that we are meant to interact and be part of each other’s lives. I would like to encourage you to take time to share  fun stories the next time you meet with your people. Sharing good times, smiles and laughs is so refreshing to the soul. It is good when we smile and laugh together because it creates bonds and helps us stay connected.

So go freinds… go  retrieve some fun moments from your brain’s archives, share them, and watch a smile kiss your face.

Note~ I am not the child in the picture, but I did the “this candy is mine run” many times and I ate it all up too!  ha ha ha~ A smile just kissed my face! 🙂

Are Your Dreams and Goals for 2014 Already Going Poof?

I wonder how many people are already disappointed, already discouraged even before the first week of this new year in over.

You had hopes and dreams for 2014, but it everything seems to be just where you left it in 2013. Nothing really changed, your dreams did not materialize over night and it doesn’t look like it ever will. It is just another day…

Don’t be deceived. Every day is a new day, a new start or new year. Just make sure you are not stuck in the “New Day/New Year Resolution” fantasy because it is not a new start if you don’t do anything concrete. Wishful thinking is just that, wishful thinking.

Where do you want to be at this end of this year? Work towards it. Move forward and set things in motion. Yesterday is gone, but how about today? If you invest in your future every day you will set yourself up for a brighter tomorrow. If you are serious about your dreams and goals you will make a move today. Go for it! You are worth it!

Ask God for wisdom and He will help you succeed in you personal journey for this year. It is not too late to take your first step to a better tomorrow or a better version of you.

What do you need to get going? Wisdom. You don’t need an extra hour in the day, an extra day in the week or a new power point to keep track of your dreams and goals. What we all need wisdom. We need wisdom to live all the days of our life to the fullest. Trust God in all your ways and never lean on your understanding because only He has the bigger picture. He is with you and for you so step into this new year with the confidence only God’s wisdom can give you!

Proverbs 9:11
Wisdom will multiply your days and add years to your life.

Why is “I always do it this way” a lame excuse?

Proverbs 4 Today

Are you open to step out of your comfort zone or are you stuck in the mud?  I know that it goes against our instincts, but every once in a while we need to actually think about why it is we do what we do and if it is actually working for us. If we dare to take a good honest look at why we do things and their results, we may find ourselves in need of some adjustments.

Think about it. If you were on a plane enjoying your flight,  and then because of a sudden illness, a pilot replacement is needed.  Whom would you rather have in the pilot cabin, a pilot that trained 10 years ago and who is used to doing things “the old way” or one who is current with the latest developments in his or her field?

Am I teachable?

Teachable – to be ready and willing to be taught.

You cannot acquire wisdom if you are not teachable. All the good advice in the world won’t help if you are not teachable. Being gifted, talented or accomplished is not good enough. You must be teachable. People who won’t be taught— limit what they can accomplish, regardless of how gifted they are.

  • Are you teachable?

A true indicator or key to how teachable you are is found in your attitude. Your attitude towards the process of learning is a true indication of how teachable you really are. It is all about your willingness to listen and learn. It is about being open to learn, unlearn and relearn.

  • ASK…

Can I admit when I am wrong in public?
Am I open to new ideas and new ways of doing things?
Am I open to changing my opinion based on new information?
Do I ask for help?
Am I willing to ask a question that will expose my ignorance?
Am I willing to ask for directions?
Do I act defensive when criticized, or do I listen openly for truth?
Do I listen more than I talk?
Am I prideful?
Am I ready and willing to learn?

**We all have room to grow in this area.**

New Year’s Proverbs and More ~ What lies ahead?

God, how GREAT is your faithfulness!

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17

You will not find a “New years” verse in the bible because it is not a holiday quote guide. It is  much greater!!  The words of the Bible are more than a feel good bandage on a holiday. They are a life power transforming force!

Here are some verses that speak of newness, hope, second chances and more to help you to be, and stay encouraged in Christ as you more on to the next year. Check your bible and read each verse in context. I am also sharing an acrostic on N.E.W. – Y.E.A.R. and encouragement for those who feel a little stranded this year as it come to an end.

PROVERBS FOR THE NEW YEAR

TRUST in the Lord – Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6 *Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is kept safe. Proverbs 29:25

Keep His Word – My son, pay attention to what I say; listen closely to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart;for they are life to those who find them and health to a man’s whole body. Proverbs 4:20-22

Lead Your Household – Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it. Proverbs 22:6 *Discipline your children, and they will give you peace; they will bring you the delights you desire.   Proverbs 29:17 *Blessed is the man who listens to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway. Proverbs 8:34 

Guard Your Thoughts – The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit. Proverbs 12:5 *Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up. Proverbs 12:25 *Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans. Proverbs 16:3

Be Confident in His Work – The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day. Proverbs 4:18 *Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding. Proverbs 3:13.

Treasure Honor – A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold. Proverbs 22:1 *A good man obtains favor from the LORD, but the LORD condemns a crafty man. Proverbs 12:2

Everyday is an opportunity for a fresh start in any area of our lives.

Jeremiah 29:11– “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

2 Corinthians 5:17 – Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 

Lamentations 3:22-23 – Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed,
for his compassion never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

Ezekiel 36:25-27 – “Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. Your filth will be washed away, and you will no longer worship idols. And I will give you a new heart with new and right desires, and I will put anew spirit in you. I will take out your stony heart of sin and give you a new, obedient heart. And I will put my Spirit in you so you will obey my laws and do whatever I command.

Philippians 3:13-14 – No, dear brothers and sisters, I am still not all I should be, but I am focusing all my energies on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I strain to reach the end of the race and receive the prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us up to heaven.

Isaiah 40:31– Yet those who wait for the LORD will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary. 

Ecclesiastes 3:11He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

Philippians 1:6  “Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.”

Is this year ending on a sour note?

A word of encouragement for any of you who don’t feel too good on starting a new year because of how the current year is ending.

The seasons in nature are  great inspiration to us all! Spring is a season that speaks to us of growth, renewal and new beginnings. Did you know that we  can celebrate spring any time of the year in our personal lives? We are not subject to a time in the year like the seasons.  Any day can be spring for those who take it. Your next minute could very well be a fresh start for you in any area of your life. Take it! With God all things are possible? Yes, they are. In Him you have the ability to do and the power to accomplish anything you set your hand to do.

*For nothing is impossible with God. Luke 1:37*But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible. ”Matthew 19:26

Yes, we can!

With God on our side we can succeed and accomplish all things in life. He has given us the ability to do and tha power to accomplish all things through Him. We must trust and commit our ways to Him. Following His plans for our lives is  always a win win situation.  

Let Him be in charge!  Let God lead you! You will be in the right place at the right time enjoying life and victory over challenges that come your way. In Him and with Him you always win. Without Him and in your own strength your success will be short-lived, just here and now, and never transcend to the greater purpose He has for you. Do not be afraid of this world because you will do just fine with Him on your side.

You will make it if God is in

YOUR life!

Meaning of Christmas ~ Peace on Earth /Bible Verses*

How glorious the night that shone as bright as day. When heaven kissed earth and the Prince of Peace was born.  A simple cry was His first breath, but it  confirmed what angels knew, what prophets  foretold, and the universe beheld.

Emmanuel!

For unto you is born,

A Savior!

There was no hope of peace on earth before His birth, just as there is none today
in the life of those without God’s saving grace.

The birth of Jesus, our Savior gave earth hope to acquire peace with our creator. His life set an example of how our lives should be lived in peace with God and men. Peace not just for a season, but as a way to live.  Peace and reconciliation are now available to all because Jesus paid our debt.   *For God so loved the world that He gave His only son, so that whoever believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16* 

May we be ambassadors of peace. May we announce  to all that reconciliation with God is possible through Christ!

Can we enjoy peace in our lives in the midst of the world’s crises?

With all the family, friends, fun reunions, and parties… stressful situations will come unannounced. You will have plenty of opportunities to witness or be part of a clash, but please do your best to cooperate and keep the peace. Cooperation is less stressful than competition or trying to prove that you are right. Be a peacekeeper wherever you go. Enjoy the holidays! Exercise your patience and never leave home without your funny bone.

Never underestimate the Power of Today.

There are only two possible ways to live your life when it is not  seen  as a gift.

One is as though nothing matters so… you drift away day by day, and you miss today, because it wasn’t important. That makes you a Dead Man Walking.

The other is as though today is  all about tomorrow so… you live way too fast, and  miss today, because it wasn’t important. That makes you a Dead Man Running.

If we live our days as if there were a pause, fast forward, or rewind button on them, we would surely miss today ~> the gift of now.

Live your life to the fullest as God intended!

You are only ONE STEP, ONE DECISION away from living and enjoying today.  

Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
